After viewing this movie, I thought to myself, why did I get this one--it's so violent, not a feel good film for the holidays. On further reflection, how appropriate the film is for this time of year. The "baby" in the movie is a symbol of the Christ Child and all that is innocent, contrasting with the world around -- sin and darkness ever so present. The theme of homelessness, physical and emotional, the brokeness of the family-and the fragmentation of the human family on a broader scale. <br>The ending of the film, when Tsotsi gives back the baby and is surrounded by the police was also a powerful moment. The act of him lifting up his hands and "surrendering" speaks perhaps to an end of a life of violence and points in the direction of "surrendering" to grace. Yes, it had a Christmas message for me...<br>"A little child shall lead them...." Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
